Reconnect with Food Ò Partial Hospitalization Program/Day Treatment Program Reconnect with FoodÒ Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the first and only comprehensive eating disorder program in Michigan, along with the only program in the Midwest, offering mind-body-spirit modalities interweaved with a traditional PHP model. It is also open to out of state/country participants. This program may also be used as a transitional program following residential treatment or for those who are medically stable as a viable alternative to residential treatment. It is not a "hospital," but a program that runs the bulk of the day and may fall under your inpatient healthcare insurance benefits.
In addition to talk therapy, we offer a variety of modalities including yoga, art and music therapy, dance and movement therapy, the most unique food and nutrition therapy, mindfulness training, performing arts therapy along with psychological support in an individual and/or small group setting. This support program offers a warm and caring environment for individuals to grow and heal.
We serve adults and adolescents with special permission, all ethnicities and females, along with males as appropriate for our program. Group size is limited and selective.
Our program is nested in a cozy warm environment at the Inner Door Center--a non-hospital/clinical setting in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. Royal Oak is an eclectic and trendy town, with much to see and do. Our staff is composed of seasoned professionals whose approach is to empower participants, in a non-controlling atmosphere, to find their own key to healthy ways of coping with stress, anxiety and depression.
Initial Interview
Prior to acceptance into any of our intensive programs, potential participants are to complete a health questionnaire regarding current health status, eating disorder/addiction involvement, family history, emotional health and commitment to the intensive program. This questionnaire will help us work with you more effectively in our program.
If you are an appropriate fit, the following assessments will be scheduled for program clearance prior to the start of the program:
- Medical examination by our internist.
- Psychiatric assessment and consultation by our psychiatrist (medical director).
- Psychological assessment by one of our licensed mental health practitioners.
- Nutrition assessment by our registered dietitian.
- Nursing assessment by our registered nurse.
These outpatient assessments and consultations, prior to entering our PHP are charged/billed separately from our facility rate below. Application fee may apply. These services may or may not be covered by your insurance based on your individual plan. If they are not covered, they will be your responsibility. In some cases, you may be recommended for another level of care outside of the program.
Once admitted into the program, your commitment in this program is for a minimum of seven (7) consecutive weeks or as long as it takes you to achieve your treatment goals. If you are not making scheduled progress in our program based on your treatment plan, a higher level of care may be recommended outside of our facility.
Prior to full transition into our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) after completion of our PHP, a step down program of a minimum of three (3) days in our PHP may be recommended.
Although you may have a treatment team, your involvement with our treatment team in our program is required for continuity and comprehensive care along with requirements by state licensing, your health insurance plan and national regulatory agencies. You will be referred back to your referring treatment team following discharge from our program, and your team will be constantly in the loop of your treatment, can case conference with our staff and can visit our program at any time while you are with us.
Program Overview
The Eating Disorder Intensive Program provides a safe, supportive, structured and nurturing environment that empowers participants suffering from eating disorders to address the main symptoms of the eating disorder, other related addictions personally and/or in the family, as well as to identify and begin to resolve the emotional issues that have contributed to the development and maintenance of symptoms. This is achieved by experiencing vs. simply talking on a superficial level.
Our mind-body-spirit approach allows participants to delve deeply beneath the surface more rapidly than in conventional therapy, making this program extremely cost-effective. This program provides the opportunity for participants to take back valuable information and experience to their treatment team for further healing work following the PHP and IOP.
